Welcome to Scarlet Today™!

Scarlet Today is one of the companies under the umbrella McCrady Enterprises. It is the home of Scarlet Today™ Needles, Scissors and The String Thing®.

My brand of Scarlet Today scissors is my own design. Right after scissors were being confiscated at airports, I envisioned a small pair of scissors with big opening for the finger and a 2 1/2” length. They are great for traveling and snipping those threads. I guarantee these scissors will pass through airport inspections while traveling in the U.S. These scissors are available in sharp and blunt HERE.

Scarlet Today Needles

While I was working at a quilt shop in Dripping Springs, TX, I started a Redwork Quilt Club. As I was researching products for the club, I discovered these needles. I fell in love with the size nine needle. This is my favorite needle for embroidery and for sewing on bindings. These are the days when I was still using floss before discovering the Perle Cotton. I still use the size nine needle (with a micro needle threader with size 16 Perle cotton. When the owner of Scarlet Today needles invited me to buy the company, I jumped at the chance. Since then, I added other sizes and and types. For a selection of needles HERE.

The String Thing®!

The String Thing® is my own invention. I was working on a punch needle project and my ball of Perle cotton kept getting away from me. I told my husband I wish I had a contraption that would hold my ball of thread and I could label it to show what size thread I had in it. I also wanted it to be magnetized so my needle and scissors would sit on top. I got inspired for the tin can from smelling the lavender scent of a candle burning in a tin and then it hit me. I started with the original size the TST-101. As this size grew popular, friends and customers asked me to design other sizes and so it began. We now have several sizes to accommodate various thread types.
